It was the first car I ever drove. My brother's friend owned it and let me take it on the freeway when we broke the engine in back in high school. I remember having this huge smile as I eased into the gas to bring it up to speed. I've owned 3 mustangs before but now now I have the car that started it all for me. It needed body work and the drive line had been driven into the ground since high school. I had some new metal put on it, got it back and put up on jackstands. Tore it down to the frame. Rebuilt the engine with the goals of 400 hp and 20 mpg on 87 octane. The short block is nothing fancy. Upgraded to roller cam and rockers. TFS iron high ports that I've owned since my last mustang. 9:1 compression with speed pro teflon coated pistons. The exhuast exits in front of the rear tires trans-am style, which is the model that inspires my build. SSBC force 10 calipers on all four corners. A few suspension tricks on stock style suspension make it handle like never before. A 6 point rear cage and harnesses keep me safe if the worst happens. Steering is pepped up with a flaming river quick ratio box. It has everything I always wanted, it'll be the last car I ever drive.
Took it for it's first trip on the anti tour and it hit the 20 mpg mark while averaging over 75mph, ran faster than a new vette and kept it's cool in 100+ temps.
I have recently painted the car myself. Did it in the garage with Home depot rattle cans for about $120 including the primer and clear. I finished it off with some clear coat to give it some shine. I may not be the pefect paint job, but it's purpose was to look good as it passes the other car. It hasn't disappointed yet!

Lounge, you might have noticed the blue 67 fastback in the background. It's a 390 4 speed car. The toploader is original and still going for it! My coupe was the testbed for a lot of parts that I plan to incorporate into the fastback on it's rebuild.
I've also got my brother's 65 fastback in my garage that were doing TCP front suspension on. It's only got about 60k original miles on it. It had electrical gremlins that had plagued it from owner to owner and kept them from driving it. I figured out the problems and now it's coming back together. I agree, one at a time, build them up and drive them! Heck, Ford had to look at our cars for inspiration to make the 'new' one...
