This 1959 Mercedes 190SL convertible breaks all the rules of restoration and has been transformed into a one-of-a-kind custom modern day "Hot Rod". An old Mercedes is an unlikely candidate to be modified or upgraded but this one features all the modern upgrades including a 5.7 Fuel Injected LTI & 4 speed automatic transmission, custom fabricated ceramic coated headers, 373 8.8 positrac rear end, 4 wheel disc brakes, air ride, custom built Mustang II front suspension with power steering, a triangulated 4 link rear suspension, air conditioning with separate heat for driver & passenger, power windows, GPS for those long trips, 800 watt stereo, custom fabricated consul, hand fabricated subframe & connectors, etc. There is no aftermarket support to modify a 190SL so it all needed to be hand built. Even the paint is a custom mixed that is almost indescribable because there is no color pigment in it. The “silver” color was achieved by using only metallic flakes, which after the extremely glossy clear was applied, shines in any given light. From its show winning body & paint to the performance and athstetic enhancements, this car is a pleasure to drive. Although it takes trophies in all the shows it enters, it’s no trailer queen; it sees more miles with the hammer down than it does being pampered. This 190 was built to perform well on the street & in the shows. We are pleased with the results it gets in both. The credit for the build goes to Jellybean Hotrods & Customs in Surrey, B.C. Canada and the sound system, GPS and custom consul goes to Westside Custom Audio in Burnaby B.C. With the exception of the body, this car is hand built with all the performance goodies that could possibly fit into it. It weighs in at 2770 lbs with a full tank and a driver so the 300HP motor launches you into next week at any given moment. It's a modern day performance car like none other. With it's classy lines on the body to it's state of the art mechanicals, all the creature comforts you would expect in a new high end luxury sports car, this Mercedes 190SL convertible is an eye catching piece of driving art.

I am surprised and happy to see that someone with the skill, and determination has completed almost the exact idea I have for my 57 190 sl. I didnt rate the performace because I did'nt see any listed but I sure appreciate what you have accomplished. My 190 has 283 with a 3 sp manual with electric overdrive. Thanks for showing all the features on your 190. Mine scoots along pretty good. I'll bet yours screams! Fantastic effort and out come. Len
