What was going to be a mild street/strip build slowly transformed into the current configuration. .040 over early model block with KB pop-up pistons and molly rings attached to factory hp rods (stress relieved, lightened and wieght matched w/pistons to within 1 gram),factory nodular iron crank,Comp 306 solid lift cam .592 lift with 260 dur @ .050. Ported & polished 289 small chamber heads milled .0303 (The .003 is because of a bad surface job and they had to take another .003 of to clean them up)for 48cc chambers have given a est.12:1 compression. Valves are 1.94in. 1.6ex. one piece stainless, comp springs,retainers,10degree locks, guide plates, trickflow pushrods & proform 1.6 ratio roller rockers Offy Port-O-Sonic single plane intake w/ Barry Grant 825 Mighty Demon carb, Mallory Unilite dist. w/mallory coil. Griffin alum. radiator. Modified Mustang headers, 2 1/2 pipes through 3" racing mufflers. Trans is c-4 rebuilt w/Hughes racing master kit with custom built 4000 stall converter. Car is painted semi gloss black with Ford 10 hole wheels. Interior has t-bird seats, alum. console cover with Sunpro white face gauges B&M mega shifter and Sunpro 3 1/2" tach. Future upgrades are 9" rear, 3" header pipes & whatever else catches my attention. It is street legal (other than the rumble through the neighborhood) and all lights work including flip-up head lights. Most all of the major parts that weren't given to me came off ebay (ie. carb, intake, headers and such). Est. total cost of build is around 3000.00 including the car and all of the work (excluding block & head surfacing)has been done by myself and a friend including my first all steel cowl scoop. This as a true budget build and is a total blast to drive around town. You should see the looks as people realize that a RX7 doesn't normally sound or look this. The car was built to have some fun and not have to worry if it gets a couple of dents & the scoop isn't perfect, but it sure does serve it's purpose. Here's a web address to some pictures of the car on my racingjunk.com profile.
