beaker58 has other ride profile(s):
I found this truck in a mans front yard being used for normal work.After I convinced the owner to sell it to me for 2800.00 the work began.With very little body rust except the normal locations,bottom of drivers door and cab corners,the restoration really didn't require all that much effort.Started by removing the entire body down to the frame,cleaned the frame and suspension components and slowly went up from there.Had the paintwork done by a small body shop,that unfortunatly no longer exists,and I know this sounds strange,requested that the shooter give it some orange peel texture.A lot of the older pickups came that way from the factory.It gives the old girl some character.I replaced the original 350 with a second generation small block with center bolt valve covers and upgraded the ignition system with an HEI from Jegs.It's got a late model Q-JET feeding it  from Jet Performance.All of this combined with the stock guts of the engine are affording me and average of 14 miles to the gallon,not bad for a weekend cruiser.I've built several of the "67-72" trucks and this is the first one I didn't turn into a hot rod.I take it to a lot of cruise nights and a couple of local shows now and then.It's never gotton any trophys but I never built them for that reason.I just get a kick out of the build and driving them.
