This is my 1987 GMC Sierra Classic, I have mainly focused on the body thus far, but as does everyone, I have plans.
When I bought this truck it needed just about every body panel replaced other than the doors(already replaced when purchased) and the cab & bed floors, I repaired both bed sides, and purchased new cab corners, inner & outer rockers, fenders, inner fenders, hood, core support, and a southern tailgate. I have done all the work myself, even most of the paint work, with exception of the green fire, I left that to my friend, John Podolack of EyeKandy custom airbrush. I entered it in th Pittsburgh World of Wheels car show in feb 2008, and it came away with "Best in Class: pre '88 4x4 pickup" and "Rising Star: Best Paint", more than I hoped for being the first judged car show I've ever been in!
Anyway, it was lots of work but lots of fun as well! The whole build is detailed here:
MY 1987 GREEN FIRE GMC BUILD PAGENow as for plans for the engine, for more asthetics than power, this summer I am installing a Tuned Port setup off a camaro/firebird on the 305 (being that its already a throttle body setup now, I'm hoping for an easier conversion). Now I know its not the best power maker out there, but it was replaced with a GM crate 305(yea, I don't know either) before I bought the truck and I have all the warranty papers for it, so I know when it was installed. The 305 only has about 60,000 on it, and besides if I want to go fast I'll take my Hurst, not my lifted 5,000 lb pickup truck!
