After 8 years of doing responsible things like getting a job and buying a house, I bought this truck in August 2013 to do something irresponsible. In October I drove the truck for the last time with the 4.3L V6 and thrashed for the 5 months over the winter to stuff in the 5.3L along with the 4L60E and some other goodies. The engine is from a 2000 Sierra and sports a cam from a 2002 Corvette Z06, stainless shorty headers, and home-made 2.5-into-3.0" stainless exhaust, but is otherwise stock. The trans is warmed over and the rear end houses the stock 3.42 limited slip. 17x9 Black Rock 997s wrapped in 275mm wide Nitto 450's provide traction in the rear, and 17x8s with 245s round out the front. Chrome trim rings from a popular online auction site add some bling. I farmed out 3 things for this build: the transmission, the wiring harness, and the driveshaft. Everything else was done in one bay of the garage with hand and power tools.
